From Injury to Inspiration: My Journey into Prescriptive Exercise and Bodywork
My path to becoming a specialist in prescriptive exercise and bodywork was anything but straightforward. It began in 2017 when I first stepped into the world of personal training, honing my skills in commercial gyms. However, it was a personal setback that truly shaped my career and passion. In 2020, as the pandemic reshaped our world, I found myself behind a desk at a spa, spending long hours sitting and typing. Little did I know that this career shift would lead to a pivotal moment in my life. One day, while working out at the gym, I suffered a severe injury that left me in excruciating pain, unable to even stand up straight.
A Turning Point
The experience at the emergency room was a wake-up call. Diagnosed with a herniated disk without any scans, I was simply prescribed painkillers and rest. This approach didn't sit well with me, especially given my background in clinical exercise science and my deep connection with my body.Driven by frustration and a determination to heal, I delved into my knowledge and resources. I concluded that I had actually pulled my psoas muscle, explaining why I couldn't stand upright. This realization sparked a fire within me – I knew I could heal myself through specific exercises and bodywork.
A New Direction
This personal challenge reignited my passion for the exercise field, but with a new focus: healing. I sought out opportunities to expand my expertise and was fortunate to work with an exercise physiologist who introduced me to the world of adjustments and prescriptive exercise.Combining this new knowledge with my love for bodywork created the perfect formula for my recovery and a new career path. Over the past three years, I've had the privilege of helping countless individuals reclaim their lives and overcome pain through consistent, tailored exercise programs and bodywork techniques. My journey from injury to healing has equipped me with not just knowledge, but empathy and a deep understanding of the body's resilience. I'm committed to guiding others on their path to recovery, proving that with the right approach, we can overcome physical challenges and return stronger than ever.
